2011 Summer Tour – Part IV – Vancouver, British Columbia

We have been waiting all summer for the trip to Vancouver!  The North West is one of the most beautiful areas of North America, and Keri even got to visit her family in the Seattle area on the way up to BC.  Amazing trip all around…priceless!

Superdogs @ Pacific National Exhibition

August 20 – September 5

PNE Superdogs Arena

Performing in a huge hockey arena is absolutely mind-blowing.  There is nothing to compare to the arena of the Superdogs shows at the PNE (Pacific National Exhibition).  The Superdogs have been performing at the PNE for longer then I’ve been alive!  Since the 70′s, the Superdogs have been a star feature of the PNE, and their audience includes adults with their kids who grew up as Superdogs fans.  Some of the performing cast members were fans as kids as well!  The Vancouver newspaper, The Province, did a nice write-up on this year’s shows at http://www.theprovince.com/life/Superdog+show+leaves+print/5325013/story.html

Power, Mega, Arrow, Kaya, Junie and Bootzilla all performed in the shows daily.  They did Frisbee Freestyle, Frisbee Distance (even Mega got to play a few times in that one!), Weave Poles, High Jump, and Agility-style courses.  Some of our best photos from this once-in-a-lifetime experience are below.  Enjoy!

Here’s a cute video of Mega’s first time competing in the frisbee event. She never caught it, but she stole the show and wouldn’t leave the stage! Funny.

The Hula Girl touring the Oregon Coast

We were able to hang out in Vancouver an extra day to go Killer Whale watching with Courtney and Sam, two other Superdogs cast members.  It was an amazing experience as well!  We saw several babies, including a rare grey Killer Whale (one of only 2 known to exist in the world), and we saw them hunting and eating a couple seals.

“On our way home” we stopped in Portland, Oregon to visit my sister Casey and a Flyball friend, Mary…meeting at a dog park there in Portland.  Traveling down the Oregon coast is amazing, as are the Redwood Forests, and then we visited our Alaskan Flyball friend Tim in Northern California.  Packed in a lot for an absolutely unforgettable adventure in the pacific northwest.
