K9s In Flight
Hot Diggity Dogs
John Misita has been producing canine entertainment shows for over 15 years with his rescued dog team from Georgia. “From Homeless to High Flying” is his motto, and he promotes and encourages adopting rescue dogs from shelters.
In the summer of 2008, K9s in Flight produced a show called “Hot Diggity Dogs” at Elitch Gardens theme park (formerly a Six Flags Amusement Park) in Denver, Colorado. Several D.E.O. Speedwaggin’ dogs were invited to perform in the show all summer long…along with Frisbee Disc Dog Champion Chris Sexton with his Border Collies Banzai and Laika; Professional Dog Trainer and Purina Incredible Dog Challenge Spokesperson Lourdes Edlin with her team of dogs, Mako, Cruiser, Nemo, Jammer, Dory, and Dusky; and Donna Arnett with Vadar, Star, and Joshua.

We had one of the best summers EVER working at Elitches! One of the most exciting parts of this show was that Keri had a SPEAKING role and Kaya had an ACTING role! Normally these dog performances are just about the dogs…but this show had a script and involved a bit of acting from the humans as well. The story behind the show was that it was only for the “big dogs” to compete in, while Keri and puppy Dusky kept trying to sneak into the action behind the back of the announcer.Â
Dusky was Lourdes’ 5 month old Border Collie, and Kaya played her stunt double – so that the puppy looked like she could weave, she could do the 48 inch high jump by vaulting off Cruiser’s back, and she could do leg vaults and flips for a frisbee. We had fun and of course all of the kids watching the show were always rooting for Dusky to be allowed to join the official team of big dogs!
Unfortunately we have been unable to perform with John Misita in any additional productions since that summer, but we had such a great time that we wanted to mention his company on the D.E.O. Speedwaggin’ website.
We also highly recommend Lourdes Edlin and her amazingly trained dogs for any dog talent work needed for movies or television…and of course if she had a website then we’d link to it but I guess she is too busy to deal with those sorts of minor marketing details. But we did find a Blog of hers, so check that out!
